Click on the pic for the video...

A couple of the jakes were struttin before they left the hens, but tall grass hid most of it from the video.

It started out as a shed hunt behind a neighborhood. After no luck finding antlers, I ran into a small group of jakes and at least one good longbeard (you can see him for a split second at the beginning of the video). A little while further I saw a flock of about 30 hens in a field. On the way back, the hens and gobblers came together for a bit and I got some good video. Then the jakes & longbeard flew up to roost. Not long after, I watched all the hens walking along a tree line before flying up to roost next to the rest of the birds. Got some of the hens flying up at the end of the video.

All this was within city limits, around a couple of neighborhoods. Makes up for an antlerless shed hunt!

A couple more pics...

I'd say it was good practice for self filming my turkey hunts this spring.

Hope I find some good birds to hunt when I start scouting in a couple weeks...

Thanks all.

If anyone didn't see the video it's only about 4 minutes... those jakes came right up to me with no calling or anything, they just happened to walk right by the camera and never busted me. I was wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans and my hands and camera were exposed. Proof you don't absolutely need camo to get in range of a turkey......

Good stuff Cat. I was waiting for the shot! lol
I imagine if you shot during the season the homeowners would have the law on you in a flash. It would be a good location to use a bow or a crossbow.

for sure, easy way to get cops called on you. Surrounded by houses. but there is a bit of property there with some cows on it and the birds were roosting there. Looked online at the property map and found owners name. Might go talk to owner about potential bow hunting.... not gonna get my hopes up but I might just have to ask.

Just depends.... if he is hunting private property with the owners permission... there is nothing anyone can do or say about it.... as long as he isn't shooting towards the houses or creating a danger to the public.

Except that on some of his video the birds are in somebody's backyard, right up against the house. lol

nice video and pics. what kind of camera was you using?
panasonic lumix fx75. It's a point and shoot that can do HD video, but it wasn't in HD for my videos (to save memory). Wish it had been HD for these birds though.
