I bought a covert mp8 (2015 model I think) over the summer and it hasn't been taking pictures like it should. It would only trigger occasionally. I emailed covert last week and they sent me a RA# and had me mail the camera back. Well 3 days later and I have a brand new mp8 (2016 model) in my mailbox. I'm very pleased with their customer service!

Customer service is great but seems like camera quality is falling off. We have returned three lately.

This was my first time that I've had one not work properly out of the 7 or 8 that I've bought. I also haven't purchased any coverty cams recently except that one though, so you are probably right.

How does it work?

I'm assuming you are talking about the new camera they sent me? I set it up by my house to make sure it was going to trigger and work properly. After pulling the card yesterday, it appears that this one is working properly.

Covert has been top notch for customer service.

Regarding their cams, I have a 2012 model Black 60 that continues to work flawlessly. Just checked this one yesterday again, and it just doesn't miss anything. However, in part because of such satisfaction with that 2012 Black 60, I purchased several 2013 Black 60's, and every one of the 2013 models had problems. Not sure what happened to quality control after 2012, but I was really "rooting" for this Kentucky-based distributer to do well.

I suspect the Chinese manufactures (of all brands) focus on quality control with the first models years (to hook people into buying more), then greatly reduce quality control in subsequent years ---- suspect the case with all "brands" of trail cams made in China ---- at least it has been my experience. Kudos to Covert for taking such good care of their customers.

By the way, it's my understanding that most trail cams are made in the same Chinese factory, with most of the differences in brands being cosmetic and software programming. I suspect some brands opt for less quality control, and perhaps other brands are sabotaged when the Chinese manufacturer wants to "promote" a newer brand? Right now, Browning is the cat's meow, but will subsequent models be manufactured under the same quality controls?

The only thing I don't like about covert is the range of flash at night. I have mine set on a salt lick about 20 feet from the salt and if the deer or not right at the salt you can't see them well.
