slept late so we didn't go to Sumner county like we planned...i took Christina to the place where i killed a bird thursday evening, also the place where I've watched a big boss bird all week long...birds gobbling everywhere when we got there, and we were still hearing gobbles as we were leaving lol...even without killing a bird this morning will go down as one of my all time favorite hunts...i finally spotted a strutter on the edge of a field on property we can't hunt...looking at him through binos i recognized him by his beard , it was definitely the one I've been watching all week...lol, i pointed him out to Christina and gave her my binos and Ole Tom commenced to putting on a show...he danced around on a little rise in the field for about 20 minutes by himself with about 15 hens still back towards the woodline...they finally all came out and started his way with 3 more longbeards and 5 or 6 jakes bringing up the rear...the whole time ole big boy was doing his thing , he never broke full strut and a few times actually ran up to a couple hens and then ran back to the little rise in the field...he is definitely top Tom on that little farm...the best part was Christina though ...she kept saying ooooo look at him he's so pretty , i wanna shoot that turkey lol...she watched him for a good 30 minutes without ever taking the binoculars down from her eyes...the look on her face was priceless...talking bout it all after we left i realized this is only her third season hunting , and she hasn't been fortunate enough to actually see a boss tom do his morning ritual for the hens...and to see how the younger toms keep their distance...experiences like this morning are why i LOVE turkeys and turkey hunting...it will never get old seeing new hunters witness things like this for the first time
