Setterman had me worried. I guess my scales were off a little. These were the only scales i could find and they do not measure in ounces. NWTF man is coming to score this evening. Got my fingers crossed.

Don't doubt your weight was close at all. As you say, that scale your weighting on there doesn't do ounces. Also, the bird will start to dry out and lose weight after death. Over the years I've killed a few that were quite a bit larger than your average 19 - 22 lb. My biggest bird last year weighted 24.10.

Big bird regardless. I've heard from someone I consider reliable that a certain area not far from where I hunt was stocked with Missouri birds back when they restored turkeys to tennessee, and some can reach 27-28 pounds, or so I've been told. I've also had an older guy on WMA tell me he once killed one weighing 27 pounds. It's all stories to me till I see one weighed myself, but it's definitely a possibility. And your daughter definitely killed a good one, just not in my area.

Even if it's 26lbs. that is still huge for Tennessee. In my experience, anything over 22 is big, with average being 18-20.
I'd be more proud of them spurs though. It could weigh 12 lbs and have a 2" beard, spurs is all I care about, other than the actual "game" I play with him.

Please understand I am tickled for you and your daughter, heck of bird and I know y'all are both happy.

It took me a really long time to get used to killing 22 lb birds here after growing up a big bird was anything over 20 lbs down south.

Thanks Setterman. Man, this state record talk is wearing my nerves down quick. I am so glad this scoring will be over this evening. We lost a pound and a half weight, the state record bird has a bigger beard by 1/2 inch but we have the spurs. It's going to be close. I sure hope she gets it but if she doesn't, hey, that's ok. Either way, he's getting mounted full strut. Her wishes.
