Had 2 come gobbling into the field. Thought they were coming on a string but they broke into next field. Swung through woods to cut em off and saw cat coming down fence line. When I repositioned they started getting really fired up. Had 4 jakes come in behind me and bust me at about 5 feet. Gobblers were still going so thought I was good. They never would break into where I was waiting. They got quiet and wouldn't answer so figured they'd seen the cat. Eased out and spotted them working back up field and color told me they'd lost their excitement. Figured they'd head back in where they came out so headed up to cut them off. Few yelps and it was over. Seeing his buddy hit the ground got the other bird going and I didn't think he'd ever leave. 24lbs even. 11 1/8" beard and 1 1/16" spurs.

Congrats on the bird!

Not being mean, but it kind of irks me when folks say "had to work for him!" Just gives the connotation that you normally don't have to work much for a bird. Which I guess, if you have great hunting grounds, may very well could be the case.

Almost 3 hours and 3 different setups to get a shot while these birds worked a 200 yard line through the fields. Birds will either work the call or you have to put in some effort(work) to get it done. I am blessed with some great hunting ground and we put in alot of work to try to keep it that way.
