2 public land birds hit the ground in 3 hunts. I called both into the gun. The wet one I got onto Saturday in the am I went in blind and heard him far away so I picked it up and headed his way. After a long haul I was checked up by the Obion Rivers edge. I decided to make a hunt of it and plopped down next to a rivers opening in the forest. I called and the Tom hammered and we played the game. I could tell he was coming but assumed he would stop a rivers width away. I spotted him across the river a short time later and that sound I love was coming from him. The bird sounded like a breathing dragon in every gobble. I did a soft call and he began making his way directly in front of me across the river. Then he launched into flight directly to me. I had two options shoot him or have him land on my head. I shot him as he cleared the river and he landed at my feet. It was awesome to think my calling forced a bird to cross a river to get me. Love me some turkey hunting.
