been hunting a bunch of birds with freakin lock jaw? I hunted my tail off today from daylight to about 11:00 and put around 7 miles on my boots and only heard 4 gobbles by 3 different birds all of which were across the lake at two different spots. I moved to a parking spot across the lake on the other side of the WMA to where they were and never heard them again. I walked and covered ground until I was sick of walking. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I hope my luck turns around soon!

sure have, but tomorrow will be my first morning hunt this year so hopefully theyll be talkin. i called back and forth with a hen for abot 15 mins while she was basically in my pocket today. kinda hoped she'd helped me call in a tom but thats the only bird i've heard so far and ive hunted about 18 hours

It has a lot to do with Humidity. They Hammered good Tuesday and Wednesday, slacked down Thursday and just about shut down Friday.Need a cold front Bad.Most people think that warmer is better but thats not the case.

You know, I noticed in the weeks before season on the mornings that I had the windows rolled down checking out birds in fields on my way to job sites that they seemed to be gobbling a lot more on cooler mornings after a weather system blew through. Lots more struters out in the fields as well.

Maybe I won't have to get mad and throw my gun and all my calls in the lake after all... :D :D

On my farm here in East Tenn. they start gobbling right at sunrise and then shut up right at about 9, but during that time they are hammering off pretty good.

we have had at least 5 birds gobbling at the same time from different directions every morning until about 8:30. then they shut up

Just returned from a 4 day hunt in west tn. We were hunting private and public ground in the Holladay area and the Natchez Trace Park. I covered 3 to 4 miles a day and heard one gobble the whole time. I was fortunate to take a jake, normally don't but due to time restraints he took a dirt nap. It was my toughest trip there ever.

Haven't heard anything much myself either, saw a few but haven't heard but maybe 2 gobbles.
