I have been shooting a compound for many years. I shoot five days a week now and love it. I first bow shot was a recurve and I want to try again. I need help picking out my bithday present from my wife. I'm looking for something in around 50#, 27 inch draw, for ground and tree stand hunting and shooting alot in the backyard. Price under $500.

Personal opinion, best bang for the buck is Chekmate bows. I've owned a few different takedowns from them and all have been excellent. Currently shooting a chekmate sabre. G&M archery has a decent in-stock inventory at the moment. They've got a few around the 51-53#@28" mark that'll give your around 50# @27". http://www.gmarchery.com/webstore/store ... =Chek-Mate

You could also order a custom chekmate at www.recurves.com, but the wait time is around 8 months.

Another option is to cruise the classifieds on different trad sites such as www.Tradgang.com , http://leatherwall.bowsite.com/tf/lw/threadsx2.cfm , and http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/. You can pickup a good deal on some used good name custom and production bows that way.
