Help-Turkey Hunting West Tennessee

My wife has asked me to take her turkey hunting this year,I have the opportunity to hunt in West Tennessee (Benton Co) and was going to try to take her, from everyones past successful hunts, what would be your ideal weekend to be in the woods? I understand there is no perfect ideal time, just trying to collect all the info I can so we can be as successful as possible. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
 
First full week of April but if it's a late spring I'd push it to the 2nd full week. As cold as it will be the next few days/nights, makes a fellow wonder if spring will ever arrive.
 
I couldn't imagine only going a time or two.
Opening weekend would probably be best, if weather is conducive leading up to it.

Had to go look to be sure but this year the season opens on April 4th. The last several years seems like it's opened March 29, 30, or 31...a full week earlier. I guess it's just how the days fell on the calendar this year.
 
West TN birds, especially Benton County, are fair weather birds. Hard to say which "weekend" will be good. It all depends on the weather. Take a weeks vacation and pick the best days, clear, cool, and calm. :tu:
 
Taking pressure out of the equation, I would typically prefer later in the season, mid-late April. By then many hens have begun nesting so there is slightly less love competition. So if you have un-pressured private land, and only get a few days to hunt, i would wait. If you're like most of us, i would start as soon as they let us start.
 
Thank all the advice , ill be hunting alot more the one weekend. I live at the foot of the Ocoee mountains so I mostly hunt here but I deer hunt alot over in Benton Co. , took my wife with me this year and she loved it over there and wanted me to take her back on a turkey hunt. sorry it came out sounding like I was saying I would be just hunting one weekend . Ill be in the woods most every day over here lol
