I shoot a Bowtech Insanity with a 28.5 dl at 70lbs. I bought some CX Maxima red (350) arrows and will be shooting 125 grain exodus broadheads for an upcoming elk hunt. I always shoot Rage around here, but these exodus heads are consistantly shooting right. With field tips they they shoot fine. 4 out of 4 people in our group are shooting the same setup and all have said that they are shooting right. At 50 yards I grouped right 3 inches. I bumped my rest a hair and centered them up, moved back to 60 and the same thing occurred. From the information given, what does that tell you guys about this setup? Should I try some 300 spine arrows?

I plugged these numbers into OT2 and your optimal spine is .303 with a 125 grain head assuming a bare shaft carbon to carbon arrow length of 28". 340 spine is weak. You would be served well shooting a 300 spine. I shoot a 300 spine out of my Hoyt Spyder Turbo 28.5" at 65 lbs with 100 grain point with good results even though it is definitely on the stiff side.

Ok thanks guys for your help. I thought 300 was correct. I am shooting good, but would prefer to get the correct spine. I am leaving next thursday for an elk hunt in colorado and need to fix this and shoot asap. Probably gonna go with VAP armor piercing or micro infused easton in 300s. What do you guys think?

Those are good choices. Also look at Gold Tip Kinetics...they are a small diameter carbon arrow available in 300 spine.

So the Rage hit ok? Could just be some fine tuning left to do and save you some $$$

Mechanicals should not be used as a band aid for mismatched spine or poor tune IMO

WOW UT, I am impressed.

(don't tell Rage makers that)

I agree...not what I was saying. Seems like with only 3" differences at 50-60yds it could be a more simple, cost savings fix than buying new arrows. Have you tried 100gr heads? May stiffen your spine just enough. Or some more slight adjustments to the rest. I guess I'm one to always try and make it work before dropping more $$$

What if I fix the spine problem and still shoot rages. All I will have to do is draw and the deer will fall over and bleed to death right where they stand

Do you guys order your arrows or do you buy them local. I live in ooltewah and nobody has 300 spine eastons. I checked at sportsman warehouse and all I saw was the 330 spine. Where do you all get your arrows from? Oh yea Im sorry Goodwin for not replying, I just reread some of the posts and missed what you asked. The Rage do hit well. I am leaving Thursday the 29th of this month for opening elk in Colorado. I found some ACCs today, but they were 340 spine also. I agree with the small diameter craze for maximum penetration, but I am down to the nitty gritty here and need to come up with some as quick as possible.

I get them local by letting the shop order the arrows and then having them cut them.

Lancaster Archery will cut them to size for you for a fee when you order online.

Your local shop should be able to order them and get them in fairly quickly. Up here it takes EnergyWave 1-2 days to get arrows he doesn't have in stock, and you may find the same from a local proshop down there. In the event that doesn't work out, as UTG stated, get them from Lancaster and you can pick the shipping speed.
