I am privileged to call him a friend for a long time now, and credit him with convincing me to dump the woodlot turkey hunting I was doing here in E. TN and start running the big mtn country. Nothing has been more enjoyable in my turkey career then starting the challenge of chasing birds that have hundreds of thousands of wooded acres to roam, rather than the ones living in 20 acre wood patches.

The only thing equal is the big southern river bottom birds I grew up hunting.

The book is excellent, and he and I feel the same way about all the BS gadgets folks use now to kill turkeys. He's as traditional as it gets, and his opinions are almost identical to mine if that tells you anything.

In other words, Cowman you'll love it but the decoy/blind/fanning crowd will be furious and not understand where he's coming from.

I've thought about buying it, just haven't got around to it yet.

My favorites I have read so far are Tom Kelly's Tenth Legion and The season.
Illumination in the flatwoods by Joe hutto is a good book about turkey behavior. Its way better than the PBS documentary.

I read the tenth legion about twice a year, once in January when im sick of deer and winter, and again as season approaches.
