Herbstreit---SEC and Cupcakes

They can whine all they want to,the SEC plays the toughest schedule's in the nation. They must expect the SEC to play top twenty teams each week!!

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State announced on Tuesday several changes to future football schedules, including canceling a home and home series against the University of Tennessee in 2018 and 2019.

According to a news release issued by the university, Ohio State made the request to Tennessee to cancel the games because of the Big Ten's decision to pay a nine-game conference season beginning with the 2017 season.

With the announcement, Ohio State now has Cincinnati as its only non-conference opponent in 2018 and will add two others to the schedule.

Guess Herbstreit didn't see this.

Wow Ohio st. plays a weak schedule FULL of cupcakes so does TCU, And Baylor.

Didn't Bama start the year by playing a top 20 Non conference game?

Didn't Tennessee just play a top 20 non conference game?

Does Florida not play a good FSU non conference game every year?

He should be talking about how Ohio st. Can Fix there entire schedule were they don't play 9 cupcakes a year. Instead of an SEC team who plays 2 or 3.

I guess SEC schools can't have cupcakes, and every Non conference game has to be against a ranked team.

Urban Meyer is definitely scared of what butch is building. Anything that takes three years to build the foundation and is still young and incomplete will be impressive! Brick by brick! it's a long process you must have faith in. The end result will be astonishing.

I really would hate to be a Ohio St fan and have cupcake teams to look forward to see each year,I'm so thankful to be a SEC fan and have the Vols as my team. With the cupcake schedule that Ohio St plays, does anyone beside me think if Ohio St loses the game to Michigan St,they should not be in the playoff.

This is a story from 2011 !!!!!! Way to stay on top of things. Everyone. :rotf: :rotf: :

$EC fans thank you for the hump day humor. By the way, 2011 is known as the "Fickel year." Was that also the last year that a team from the $EC won the national championship under the old (tainted) rules?

I read your post and just got all warm and fuzzy. Just picturing Mr. Vols fan #11 er, I mean Mr. $EC fan cheering for all your faves. It must be difficult choosing the Gators over the Wildcats this weekend. Do you seriously cheer for the Gators? I bet you say "roll tide" in your sleep.

Arkansas fans (and Alabama fans who don't suffer from short term memory loss) will remind you that our MAC cupcakes are to be taken seriously.

Sorry ,the story clearly says 9-15 in my post. Doesn't really matter does it. Just play the teams on your schedule.

Dude, wake-up "snap, snap". I quoted and responded to your follow-on post about OSU and UT cancelling their home-and-home for 2017 and 2018. Your OP about Herbie states that it is "9-15." Your follow-on post was a four year old story from 2011 and look at all the ridiculousity that has ensued. From claims of Urban is afraid of Butch's masonry skills (when neither were coaches of their current teams at the time that story occurred, let alone that as coaches they don't schedule) to more $EC fans peculiar love fest breaking out. It's just weird picturing Vols fans and Gators fans sitting around their campfires singing kumbaya and watching Ohio State play a team from a conference that isn't the $EC for the national championship again come January 2016. :super:

These schedules are set years (5-7 usually) in advance. Just a couple years ago Northwestern and Vandy cancelled their home-and-home. It happens for all sorts of reasons and I'm sure there are several examples where even the mighty fighting Seminoles have cancelled a home-and-home with someone.

And by the way, OSU replaced the UT home-and-home with TCU for 2017 and 2018. Which team was ranked higher in 2011, TCU or UT? Which team is currently ranked higher? OSU has a home-and-home with Oklahoma starting next year and home-and-homes with Oregon, Notre Dame, and Texas in addition to TCU in coming years.
