After a four year break from bow hunting, I'm back in the game starting next year. My bow has been ordered and will be here next week. At the first of the year I'll start getting things together.

So, here's your chance. I have been out of the game for so long, I want and need suggestions on accessories. I used to know my stuff, but technology seems to move so fast I don't even recognize some of these new names and products.

Here's what I'm looking for:

1) Arrow Rest - What's good, what's bad, what do you like?

2) Arrows - I used to shoot Easton ACC arrows. They were fine, but I'm open to suggestions.

3) Sights - I used Copper Johns back in the day. Again, open to suggestions.

4) Strings and Cables - I will be getting new/custom string and cables for this bow. I've always wanted custom colors, so I'm getting the black/orange twist from...someone. I know of Winner's Choice and Vapor Trail. Any other brand you'd recommend?

5) I bought the bare bow, so if you want to suggest something else I left off feel free. I'm probably going to mimic my last setup, so I'll be getting some Limb Savers, a peep sight, some stabilizer...the basics.

I'm also researching this stuff on my own and it's a lengthy and opinionated process. I need as much input as I can get.

Rest: Whisker Biscuit or Limb Driver Pro

Arrows: Gold Tip XT Hunters

Sights: Black Gold (they have entry level up to $$$)

Strings: Energy Wave (based in Hermitage TN)

Quiver: Alpine Soft Loc

Stabilizer: B Stinger Extreme Sport Hunter

Energy wave X3...great

Look into deer crossing archery arrows. Order them online and they ship em. Maybe deer crossers archery? I don't remember. Best prices and good reviews. I'm gonna order my next dozen from them

Welcome back to the game!

String: EnergyWavemuch higher quality and not over-priced like the one's you listed

Arrows: Easton Aftermath, Hexx, Axis or Black Eagle Carnivores

Sights: Black Gold, Sword or Extreme

Rest: Ripcord or LimbDriver are my two choices

Quiver: Good old, cheap kwikee quiverbetter things to spend your money on, and you'll be taking it off as soon as you get in the tree anyway.

Stabilizers: Limbsaver or BStinger

Just give Matt a call at EnergyWave and he can get you setup with anything you want. http://www.energywavebowstrings.com/

Take the whole rig to Matt at Energy Wave Archery. Let him build you strings and cables and set it up with a Limb Driver rest. Everything else is shooter preference. If you liked Copper John their sights are still top notch. Matt can square you away, just do it.

Jbk strings,spott hogg sight,limb driver rest,6" doinker
dish, and a cheap quiver,I like carbon express bluestreaks, tipped with slicktricks!

Rest -- Looks like the LimbDriver is popular here. I have one on my bow that I was playing with and the only thing I've ran into with it, is the string material has stretched on me, and I had to reset the rest tension to get it back. I used BCY D-Loop material though...which could be why it stretched. Some string builders are doing custom prestretched strings just for the limb driven rests like the LimbDriver.

Sight -- I'm a CBE guy all the way. I have the Tek Hybrid on mine but the Sniper is a good one as well.

Arrows -- Take your pick. A lot of them are the same shafts made in the same factory just with different labels. My bow is currently setup for Victory VForce shafts...but I had a hard time deciding between those and Black Eagle Carnivores. I only decided on the Victory's because I already had screw in inserts for them; whereas my Carnivores had target nibbs that were epoxyed in.

I had a Limb Driver a couple years ago and used the supplied cord that came with the rest. During initial shooting it would stretch but it will settle overtime.

Matt at Energy Wave built this 8190 prestretched string for my current Limbdriver and it is leaps and bounds better than the supplied cord. It doesn't run through the hole and secured by the set screw. Instead Matt put an allen screw and a speed bud and the loop on the string locks in place. Good stuff.

After leaving a Limb Driver 2 years ago to try an AAE Pro Drop and QAD HDX I am back to Limb Driver due to the simplicity, reliability and tunability. It's the best rest I've owned.

UT -- How did he rig it to attach to the limb? Just curious if he used the supplied piece or if he came up with something else. Seems like the supplied piece would be too small. My LimbDriver is an older one that somebody gave me. It is a simple design. My only gripe is that the launcher arms are always down when the bow is at rest. Since I don't use a bow hanger, this may be bad for me since I tend to lay my bow on the upper rail of my treestand. Then again since I ain't even pulled my treestand from the barn or screwed a broadhead into an arrow, I might not run into a problem if I don't hunt this yr.

He just ran the string through the top loop and its secure on the supplied limb pad. Vapor Trail has done away with the limb sandwiches they originally included with the rests.

I am extremely partial to vertical pins on sights so I have a Trophy Ridge with vertical pins. It really helps me to not shoot to far back or to far forward when I can see the front and back of the animal instead of just one side. You should at least compare and see what you prefer.

My Hoyt has a rubber shelf pad and it actually keeps the arrow still even if I lay my bow horizontal. Hard to believe but the rubber on the shelf works wonders.

Get out in the woods Crow!

Trapper...... my .02 cents.....

Stay with the WB... why mess with simplicity?

Arrows have changed dramatically so get some advice from the shop you ordered your bow from.

I still use my old copper john sights....again if it was not broken don't try to fix it.......
