dang longbeard still around the house. almost came to my call into the yard on our side of the fence, but I walked out with a decoy and he retreated... did not stop gobbling, hopped the fence and put on a show for one of the hens.

He's gobbling like crazy now just like he was yesterday

if this keeps up until season opens I'm gonna bust him with some lead.... probably out of the kitchen window lol.

Some of you may not consider that hunting the bird, and maybe it's not, but if he comes into my yard during season I will take the chance to pop him, I'll take all the meat I can get, legally. This bird is just too bold, but not tame... bold enough to put himself in a lot of danger though.

I know it's fun, but I would stop calling to him. I would also only listen/watch from a safe distance. I spend more time scouting before the season than most, but I hate getting busted. I do everything I can not to get busted and not to put unnecessary pressure on the birds before the season opens.

A man walking a field edge at 100 yards will now only get a casual notice by turkeys in the field. Four weeks from now, those same birds will run like crazy or take flight upon seeing a man at 100 yards.

Don't kill your best chance before you can legally kill the bird.

I know what you mean,we have them in the yard every year during the season gobbling and strutting, tempting as it is he gets a pass,I don't know there's just something about calling them up and playing the game with him out in the woods.

yep I need to shut up or he will learn not to come to my calls anymore. Hopefully he will stick around long enough.

As for playing the game, must agree with J-WO.... I still have 3 other tags for playing the game
