Anyone seen these shells?
I saw them today at academy in 20 gauge, and was wondering about the 12 ga shells. They don't have any yet, but the 20 ga. is 10 for $17.99.
here is what i have figured out so far. They are LEAD shot, not hevi shot. Evironmetal has come out with a lead shell.... I assume this was done, because many hunters are at least thinking that Longbeard XR is as good as hevi and mag blend and you get 2x the shells for less money. According to what i read they use a speed ball behind the shot and it pushes the shot faster, I think the box said 1,300 or 1,400 fps. Here's the catch... they are coupling the speed ball technology with their mag blend technology, that is to say they are loading 5,6,and 7 shot in the shells, but it is not hevi shot, it is lead.
I recently patterned my gun with 3" mag blends and 3" LB XR. The results were similar from a pellet count standpoint, but Mag Blend was just a little better. I don't know if i trust an all lead blend with #7s in there. that is dove shot.
