Im looking at going to one of the HHA sights, tired of all those pins covering up my field of view. I want to go to a .10 pin and figured that with 5 or 6 feet of fiber optic wrapped it would be plenty bright. I have heard people say to get the rheostat feature because the pin is too bright when it isnt dawn or dusk and you can tone it down some.

Who has one and what do you think of them?

I love mine, I've been using one for several years. It works great shooting 3-D and hunting. I usually set mine at 35 yards and never move it while hunting. That way I'm good from 0-40 yards. But have marks set out to 80 yards for goofing off in the back yard.

I had one and like the concept but there is a lot of room for improvement on them. #1 being the weight. They should shave a few ounces off of them or do something to balance them better on the bow. The sights are somewhat compact but weigh in the same ball park as a full pledged target sight with extension bar.

They do have really bright optics. I think I personally like the looks of the Black Gold Ascent better. I know they are balanced better than the HHA sights and run in the same price range. Both have lifetime warranties. The Black Gold is more customizable...you can go single pin or multi pin with the adjustment range a moving sight offers. My only problem with single pin sights is having to take a big guess on where you'll hit if things don't go according to plan and you have to make a quick shot at a deer that changed its mind on coming in your shooting lane. If you were at full draw and had it set for 20 yds and you get busted and they just hop a few bounds and stop....you can't let down and readjust your sight. You're either gonna have to let it go or take a guess as to how high to hold your pin to hit it at what now may be 35-40 yds. I don't like guessing. I don't buy into one pin out to 40 yds either. My bow is the fastest I've ever had at 324 fps actual speed with my 386 grain hunting arrow. I still have to hold OVER my deer targets back with my 20 yd pin to hit it in the 12 ring at 40 yards. I wouldn't mind that just in the back yard foam shooting but no way I'm comfortable doing that in the woods on a live moving critter. But that's just me. It has been discussed and argued over many times before. No right or wrong answer....just user preference.

EXCELLENT post...and EXACTLY why I don't have one yet.

I am looking for a movable sight wth THREE pins I'll pre-set at 25/35/45/ The top pin may be used to dial in "perfect" shot possibilities on targets while the pre sets will be used for my hunting. Then, in the RARE occasion I get "field" op at a LONG distance I MIGHT use that bottom pin to dial in.

But I have yet to find a .019 or smaller pin that is in a shrouded (pin guard) assembly with either no fiber optics or protected fiber optics for a reasonable price.

I have used a moveable pin sight for many years now. If you shoot and practice a lot you get to know your equipment. I haven't had any problems with having to guess where to hold my pin. Besides no one is there holding a gun to your head telling you you have to shoot. If you don't feel comfortable with the shot don't take it. But for my money the HHA sights are a great sight. They are very bright. I don't have any with the rheostat adjustment but I take a rubber band or tape and cover up the fiber optic fiber to get the desired brightness.

102 -- The Black Gold Ascent has that option available....single pin, three pin, five pin too. I've thought the same thing as you on setup...that's how I know about the setup configurations lol The only thing is that I think it moves the entire sight head so if you have top pin set at 20 at a certain marking on your tape you're still in the same boat as the single pin shooting if you adjust the sight for longer yardage unless you have a bunch of tape marking to know where each additional pin will hit if you move it away from the known impact 20 pin...so basically in my head I'm still better off with multi pins.

In one particular case I pulled a shot with an HHA that i wouldnt have been able to do with pins unless i had 6 or 7 on my bow. Furtherest I've ever shot a deer was 68 yards and I normally don't shoot but half that distance. Had a big doe bust me and bounded off and just stood there blowing and stomping and would not shut up or leave. I figured she would run and be long gone before the arrow got to her but at least I would run her off. Ranged her in the
wide open. Dialed the sight to 65 yds and held dead on her. Shot at her like a 3D target with no rush or pressure and wouldn't you know: she never flinched. Just stood there and took her 100 grn Slick Trick medicine like a good nannyhead. Shot plum through and watched her fall in sight.

i have a trophy ridge single pin and love it, i have thought of going to a kellar pendelum lately, anyone used them?

I have a 5510 sight that is practically new. Has .010 green pin. I have lots of extra yardage tape ....if anyone is interested, shoot me a pm. Id take 85 shipped. I may put it in the classifieds

I have shot an HHA for many years and love it. Very bright. Mine is fully adjustable, but I leave it in one position.
