How are the birds acting down that way? I'm guiding a veteran on the governors hunt on a farm in the western part of the county tomorrow. The farm is located in the Pleasantville area close to the perry county line.

Well the storms maybe more of an issue than the birds. But to answer your question, every day and every birds different. I think some stable weather will help. There's some big woods down that way esp north of the highway.

I live and hunt pretty much exactly where you're talking about, between Pleasantville and Coble. Gobbling has been spotty at best. On all the farms I hunt and as I drive around, there are almost no birds using fields as in past years yet. Beginning to see a FEW in fields the last couple days. Almost no understory leaves much less oaks. There was a huge acorn crop last fall with tons still on the ground where I hunt, and some have suggested that they are still eating them. Personally in my short experience here, two more weeks is when it will get good. Sorry for the poor report, but this is what I've seen so far.

5 of us hunted our lease yesterday morning which is 4-5 miles off the Bucksnort exit and didn't hear or see the first bird other than one hen I heard one time. My buddy killed one there last week and heard multiple birds. Just shows you never know. Good kick!

Thats what I'm seeing in other parts of Mid TN... red oak acorns, much less field activity than normal

The birds in hickman just broke into the fields in last 2 days. Finally starting to get better. Birds are starting to come to the calls.

Just saw three sets of birds in different fields on the way home from work! None on properties I have permission, but next door...I'd say things are looking up!

Weather is a huge factor but really just not hearing the number like years past...
