That deer DOES look extremely young.... IF he is a 2.5 y/o... he's got the genetics to be #1 out of 1000.... Just because of the law of statistics, I'd almost feel more comfortable he's a seriously underweight/ small for age class 3.5 y/o.

The front legs look like he's 3.5. Some are just more fit than others. I think the belly sag is sort of a guideline more than a rule.
 
Give him a year or 2 and he will be a heck of a deer. Not saying he's not a great one now.
