Cornersville destroyed Mount Pleasant in the Regular season. Wayne County was within 7 points of Cornersville very late in the 4th quarter of the game Friday night. Mount Pleasant beat Wayne County pretty easily. It's funny how it works out.
Cornersville's running backs look like rabbits, jumping around, side-stepping, and eluding tackles. I would imagine that Cornersville is very close to 2-A size as well. It should be a great game!
I saw today that Mount Pleasant had both the offensive and defensive Region 5 1-A MVPs.
So does cornersville have much of a passing attack or is it mostly just running the ball? I honestly believe it will take a good passing team to get by Huntingdon. Thankful for the home field advantage this year. We played like crap against them last year on their turf.
Their quarterback was really good, too. He took a hard hit and got a little shaky after that. I thought he was going to need to come out at one point. He wobbled back on the field and finished the game strong. If their receivers were covered, they dumped it off to the backs, and it was off to the races. They're just really quick and hard to tackle. You can tell they have really practiced direction change and spin moves. They had a pair of BIG boys on Oline and Dline that were making it hard on the Mt. Pleasant lines. Their fans showed up 3 hours early to tailgate, and there wasn't enough room for all of them, including the softball stands that were moved to the visitor side. The fans were waving glow-in-the-dark wands and wearing glowing headbands and necklaces and such. It was a spectacle for sure. As many fans that they have traveling, it may not seem much like home field advantage. Since your school is much bigger than Mount Pleasant, it will probably be business as usual for your team.
