Holey moley (graphic)...........................

I jumped on the band wagon @ 5-6 yrs ago and bought a Savage MLII, it was a safe queen for the first two yrs. until I could finance the goodies to go with it(scope,etc)
I finally got it up and running and two yrs. ago shot a nice 4pt. buck the first time out with it.(96yd. shot, dropped in his tracks) I was beyond impressed.
Well, yesterday.........the opener of mzldr season here in NY, the ole Savage spoke again.
I am still using the bullets and sabots that came with the gun(250gr XPT's? over 76grs of H4198)
This shot was at @ 30 yds. and the bullet hit a 3/4" dead tree branch @ 3ft. off the muzzle which deflected it into the frt. shoulder, the bullet was a total pass through (didn't notice the exit hole until I skinned it after getting it home. (exit hole was only thumb dia. sized)

X2. You sure thats not the exit and that thumb sized hole you mentioned isn't the entrance? Ive seen them shot with a .338 Lapua and nowhere near that damage on entrance.

probably mushroomed when it hit the dead branch, turning a 50 cal bullet into a 85 cal...

The bullet hit the leg bone dead center and it exploded, the only thing holding the rt. frt. leg on was hide.

i shot one a couple years ago with xtp bullet about a 50yrd shot and hit a limb and done the same thing that doe i shot looks just like the same as yours but mine didnt drop in her tracks she ran 20yrds and looked like you was pooring the blood out with a bucket

hit a small branch 1 foot before striking a deer once before. Two 3 inch holes on each side. It struck the heart and blew it to pieces. The deer ran about 50 yards down a hill. It looked like someone took a 5 gallon bucket of blood and threw it down the hill.
