Picking up a new rifle tomorrow and am going to be reloading.
The caliber is unusual (375 Ruger), so once fired brass is pretty much non-existent. Factory ammo is too expensive to build up an inventory of brass.
It seems Hornady has the only readily available brass.
Never used them before, how is the quality?

About the same as Winchester or Remington, but generally more expensive. Obviously that is not going to be an issue for that caliber if the others aren't available. Some people try to refer to Hornady brass as "premium," but I don't see it as such.

I've heard some good stuff about that caliber, but it will likely be a stomper on both ends, especially if it only has the 20" tube.

in that caliber loaded to sane pressure it will be ok,,it will shoot ok but if you load it hot the primer pockets will give up on you faster than WW or Rem even,,I have shot the Hornady Superformance factory ammo in 204 and 243 that wouldnt hold a primer after the first shot,,that is part them loading it too hot I am sure but I have bought Hornady virgin brass for 243 and 338L that I couldnt load near as hot as WW or Lapua brass without trashing the primer pockets,,

since it is the only source for 375 brass you will just have to find a load that shoots well and isnt hot enough to strain the pockets.

when you get your load worked up, load 1 piece of brass and shoot it and repeat until that 1 piece of brass wont hold your primers tight and you can decide if you want to replace brass ever so many loads or back it down to the next accuracy node,,if it lasts 5-6 times you should be fine,,

More info:
Apparently this caliber is a Hornady design, so they were the only ones making brass for it for a long time. Norma is now making it, but usually out of stock.
I have a reloading questions, but will start a new thread.
