Hornet's had their way with me. Ended up like a pin cushion in two battles. Bees, Wasp, Yeller Jackets don't have nothin on Hornets. The stings have more longevity than those others. Roofing torch took some out but the nest was deep. Poison was next and some more went down. Finally after a few days of them winning I got em. Garden hose and gallons of water did the trick. Angry things, if I got within 15-20 ft they would swarm. Grand kids were finally allowed back out there. Just glad I was the one who found them first.

I have had a nest the last two years one in a Japanese maple and one under a soffit. PT Wasp and Hornet freeze works great on them. I spray it up the hole of the nest then coat the nest with the spray. It is an oily mixture and will stick to the nest. I also spray it at night when most of them are in the nest and the spray kills on contact so any that make it out of the nest are dead before they know it.

Also if you get stung I have found that the stuff called sting off that comes in a small wipe will take away the sting almost instantly. You will still have a welp but it wont hurt.

I know a 12GA works well on individual wasps. Can't be too careful! 🙃

I did read once someone had said hornets will follow the path of a bullet back to the shooter if you shoot their nest. I don't know if that's internet BS or not. 🤣

My experience is that bees won't mess with you if you don't mess with them. Hornets won't generally mess with you unless you get near their nest. Wasps will attack you and sting you for no reason whatsoever other than they are the devil.

Mowing one day watching where I was cutting not looking at overhanging limbs I drove into a mess of em. Shut the tractor off, jumped down and ran like the dickens was after me back to the house. I don't know how many times I got hit but I slept the rest of the day.

In hindsight probably was an epi pen candidate that day but we just didn't know about that stuff back then.

other than honey bees. Any other kind ain't worth a dime to me. Wasp or hornet sting swells me up badly. I use tobacco on new stings. It helps with the sting pretty quick. But swelling takes time.

Oh I swelled up. took some days to finally go away. Yeah I will try the tobacco next time. Never dealt with a nest buried and protected so well before.
