I like Covert but if there are better $ to value options I'm willing to switch over to anything but Moultrie or Primos

Basically what I'd like to know is are the newer black flash cameras more reliable in terms of blurriness at night?  Is the 1-10 shot quick burst on the newer Coverts good enough I can count on a clear view?

Here's a nice buck that I'd like a better look at. I got one edited image to show decently out of six pictures. Every 2014 model black flash camera (3 different brands) I bought has this issue (or I should mostly say had.. the Coverts are the only ones that still work).

With so much foliage in front of and behind the deer I'm surprised you don't have 1,000s of pics of nothing but grass and weeds triggering your camera.
Even so your covert should get a better pic than what you have. Being a 2014 model I would be surprised if Covert will cover it under warranty. I would at least call them and see what they say. My 2016 MP8 Blacks gave me many 1000s of good pics this year. No problems at all. Plus have 2 year warranty. $119 is about the cheapest ive seen them.

b&hphotovideo.com has Browning dark ops for $89 with free shipping. I'm pretty sure it is the plain jane 8mp camera. For that price I would try one if I needed it.

Good luck!

my 2014 covert aint quite that blurry but it does seem like every pic it takes of deer, the deer itself is blurry. seems like they are ALWAYS moving when it takes the pic causing the antlers to be blurred. So I have the same problem to an extent.

IMO, part of the blurring in the above pics is either from moisture on the lens, or fog.

This issue has to do with the shutter speed.
Many of the older red & black flash cams had very slow shutter speeds (at night).
Most became much faster by 2014, and based on the pics I've obtained, the 2014 Covert Black 60 was not as fast (more blurring) as the 2014 Browning Dark Ops (less blurring).

Over time, it seems shutter speeds have been getting faster, perhaps in part a facilitation of stronger flash.
I don't know this to be fact, but I'd expect the 2016 Coverts (as well as other brands) to have faster nighttime shutter speeds than their 2014 models.

I bought two of the Moultrie A5 Black Flash cameras and the images were poor at night. One died and Moultrie sent a new A7. The night images are good enough to tell what the deer is, but overall? Pretty bad.

The bushnell trophy cams are good if you can find them on sale. Word of caution. Set them to low sensitivity or you get a pic every time a blade of grass moves.

A friend recently bought a Browning Strike Force camera from Focus Cameras. It has 0.67 sec. trigger speed, 100 foot range, takes video or pics (have to set it for one or the other) with a 5 second-2 minute setting, and runs on 6 AAs. I think these are 2015 models. Thus far it's taking great pictures and the night time videos are as good or better than my Reconyx cameras. I can't vouch for how long the camera will last but if it works as good as it is now for 2-3 years it's well worth the money. I think he paid about $128.

Here is a burst sequence over a scrape from my muddy pro cam 12.

As you can tell, the 8 came in to his scrape at 0114, at 0122 a younger 7 came in to his area, at 0124 that 8 pt is at a full run to get him out. I was very impressed with trigger speed and clarity considering he is full run.
