I use to shoot a lot of tournaments and to be ready for those with judging yardage, setting the bow up, solidifying form was more than enough for hunting.

Now I shoot 3d's for fun and a lot of time take a rangefinder to confirm. Im in the business of killing stuff when it comes out.

In the past year over spring summer and fall, I have set a 3d target up in the yard somewhere around 40 yards and walked out on the back deck as soon as I wake up and take one shot. This replicates hunting as close as I can. Ill move the target every few weeks but this and about two good 30 min sessions a week keeps me sharp and ready to kill.

What do yall do for practice?

About an hour a day, every other week from a stand in the yard at different distances. Really don't look at it as practice, just something I like doing when my two boys are tugging on my leg.

I normally start at 20 yrds. sling a few then back up to 30 yrds, shoot a few from there and depending on how well I'm doing I may back up to 40 yrds and shoot a few or go back to 20 yrds. Don't really time myself so I don't know how long I take when I practice. Sometimes I'll throw in a Judo and stump shoot around the property a bit, maybe take a shot at a black bird or starling. Once I can get a Hind Sight installed I'll really be able to get dialed in and hopefully I'll see my accuracy improve even more. I'd also like to get a QAD Ultra Hunter rest installed, I think that'll help a bit too.

I start out knowing what my long range distance is before I shoot.. I start at 65yds and work my way in to 20yds.

Then have my wife go and move the target for me to any spot she wants, then I usually can judge the distance just by the look.

Try to shoot at least 4 times a week. I start off cold at my maximum distance which is 50yds. If I'm shooting good there I just walk around the yard and shoot different angles and "unknown" distances.

I also have a gulley behind the house that is close to a 15' elevation change. I have a deer target down there that is stuck behind limbs and what not. I find that walking up and down that gulley is good cardio and I like to shoot right a way when I get back to the top that way my heart rate is a little elevated as it would be in a hunting situation.

Past that it's blank bale in the garage.

I like most shoot several times a week. Now I try to shoot every other day, due to over shooting (yes it can happen). My wife and I use a 12 ring sticker on all our targets, reason is you aim small you hit small. During this time of year we are 3D shooting outdoors and we practice flat shooting. Now at the beginning of Aug. we start practicing elevated shooting with practice broadheads. As for range we normally do a random style shooting: 30,20,35,25,40, practice. Then we take 3 bing bags and from the target we toss them out and shot from those spots for a dozen shots. Then to have fun we have a target that has a dart board on it and play 21. Its our time to relax and have fun together...

Same here,I usually start at 50yds, then come in to 20, then shoot mainly the longer shots, then by season a 30yd. shot is a chip shot. Closer to season,I switch to all broadheads.
