I wear a mish mash of whatever is clean and fits. I wish I had a nice new set up matching camo but don't want to spend the money.
Most of my warm weather hunting shirts are short sleeved.
Do you think it's ok to just wear a tan or black longsleeve undershirt so my skin does not show?

I don't get caught up in matching sets, but i do think it is important to have a long-sleeve camo shirt that will somewhat mix in with your surroundings, even if its just a t-shirt. You should be able to find one for under $10.

If you were perfectly still, you could probably get away with it, but they would still see it.

Camo is more important when Turkey hunting IMO with their vision capabilities. I promise you however it doesnt have to come close to being a matching set, as Im not sure I ever wear a matching set, on purpose anyway! I have killed them in a short sleeve shirt but much prefer to cover all exposed skin in some type of breakup.

Breaking up your outline with any camo pattern will work imo. I wouldnt do tan. A turkey gets weary of anything that doesnt look like a tree or branch. I use a mesh bug suit I got a Bass Pro 5 years ago, gloves and a face mask and it keeps me hidden well. Total cost for what I hunt in was around $50.00.

i dont get caught up in FULL camo these days. I usually dont even wear gloves and have forgotten my face mask more times then i can count.

i think it helps sure but i dont think it is a MUST to wear it head to toe. Personally i think mix and match is even better then everything the same. i kill at least 1 bird a year while wearing just a shortsleeve camo shirt and a 3-d bottom especially when it gets real hot.

IMO if you are still you can get away with more then you would think.

90% of the time all i wear is a pair of gym shorts with some 3-d pants over them and a short sleeve shirt. i take my 3-d jacket with me but sometimes it all happens so fast i dont get it on...

I have a mix of Realtree APG and Hardwoods, because it was what I found at walmart and for the least amount of money ;) and it will do just fine I think. Got my Tndeer shirt as well that I would say is fit for hunting with if I don't get it trashed up.

Don't think I even own any matching camo. I do have a long sleeve camo shirt I wear when it is cool. Most of the time though I just have on a solid olive green t-shirt and can not keep up with a pear of gloves to save my life. Now my boonie hat and face mask I will back track 10 miles to find. My face mask is my blankie, it just gives me confidence. Not letting them see you move is the main thing, and they can see you blink an eye farther than you think.

Full camo may not be be essential to killing a turkey but you bet your house that it is important for calling up and killing a turkey(there is a huge difference). Especially this time of the year when there is little cover to hide in. You better be good and hidden in some cover to beat a gobblers eyes when he is coming in looking for a hen he has heard calling.

Ive killed them in blue jeans,t shirts, and tennis shoes on quick hunts before class. Its all in the setup and sitting still IMO anyways. I just think of how many turkeys Ive had come within feet of me while sitting on the ground deer hunting wearing blaze orange, no face mask, no gloves. I do wear camo though, facemask sometimes, gloves almost never.

Camo is over rated

Agree.

I don't do gloves, head nets, face masks, war paint, etc.

Killed one once wearing faded jeans and a tan polo shirt after work.

I did call this bird in.

Be STILL.

Sometimes it's worth it and other times you can kill a turkey in jeans and a tshirt imo. I think it depends on your setup and the turkey himself.
I killed my first 2 birds while wearing blue jeans and a tshirt. But both of those gobblers came running in and were focused on decoys.
Now the gobblers that come in cautiously, looking around, not really paying attention to the decoys... Well I think you need all the help you can get on those birds.
Being still is one of the best camo!
But then sometimes turkeys really make me wonder. I was standing on a logging road last deer season. I was wearing blaze orange and I had a flock of turkeys come within 10 yards of me.
Dad never wears camo! Just dickie work pants and a grey work coat and he has turkeys close to him all the time!

full camo, it doesnt matter if they dont match, unless your trying for a fashion statement or modeling for basspro. as long as it breaks up your outline. army surplus stuff works and is cheap.

remember that turkeys can pick you out just by picking up on your calling. if you use decoys you can get away with a little more as they are focused on the dekes depending on how you set them up.
