How is fishing on the Caney?

Get there early and throw jerkbaits before sunrise and the first couple hours of morning. Either then or the last couple hours of sunlight. That's when the bigger trout come out to feed and jerkbaits do wonders.

Spot on info. 17 June 2016, this is the biggest fish of the morning out of 8. Smallest was 15" and this one was 23 1/4".

There are no big trout in the mornings or evenings, just a myth. Lol. I saw so many trout all afternoon, floating down to Happy Hollow. But nothing would bite, probably something to do with the 4,204,582 canoes and kayaks and the inflatable pool floating down the river. Gotta admit that floating pool was awesome. But I did catch a few good browns after dark throwing jerkbaits. I lost something giant that could have been anything, broke my dang line.
