So it's happening. My Hoyt Spyder Turbo that has probably 6-8,000 shots on it is starting to creak from the bottom limb pocket. It only happens in the first shot and it's probably not loud enough to scare away game (yet).

I'm going to have Matt at Energy Wave take the limbs out and apply grease but does this condition usually get worse over time?

Are you sure it is actually the limb pocket and not the yoke "bushings" rubbing the outside portion of the limb? If left alone it will eventually start creaking almost every time, but it shouldn't get much louder than it is. Either way, it should be a quick and easy fix.

Hoyt bows of recent manufacture do not have traditional limb pockets. The creaking problem you are experiencing is most likely coming from the plastic limb pivot rocker blocks and it is an easy but involved fix.

Last year I got caught in a real frog strangler during a tournament with my Alpha. A few days later it started the creaking noise, because the factory lube got washed out. When I bought a newer bow press last winter that was the first thing I took care of!!!

Take a look at these pictures from when I changed the limbs back in July.

Here the bow is disassembled waiting on new limbs. While I had the bow tore down I cleaned every surface, screw, bolt, and thread thoroughly and then lubricated these same surfaces with a heavy synthetic waterproof grease that will not creep!

Look at the horizontal lines that are actually grooves wore in the limb finish several thousandths deep that can contribute to the clicking and creaking sound. Grease the limb bolt threads, under the limb bolt, the pivot bracket sleeve and bolt, and under the rocker and your problems will be gone!

Sell it and get a Mathews :) j/k it's probably nothing serious, take it to a good shop and they'll take care of it for you.

Mathews is also losing their best 3D archery Pro too, along with several others that have been with them for a while. Gonna be a lot less titles for them to advertise with now.
