I'm taking my 5 year old in the morning. We are sitting in a blind. With that said, our forecast has rain tomorrow until 7/8am. My plan is to leave the house when he wakes up. Usually that is 6:30am to 7:30am. I anticipate us getting to the blind as it is finished raining or about to finish.

So here is the question because I have never really turkey hunted in rainy type conditions...
What should I expect from the turkeys?
How will the rain change their behavior/patterns?

Thanks in advance.

If you're huunting a field they should pour into to dry out, but there's no rules obviously.

I love hunting post a rain event, some days the birds are really vocal.

Thanks Setterman for the reply. We will be in a valley that's green grass and open in between two wooded ridges.

It should be awesome, hope y'all have a great hunt and can't wait to read the report.

In the blind now with the boy. Saw 2 different strutters on the way in but I knew better than to try and stalk them with a 5 year old...haha
I have been so impressed with how quiet he has been.
We will sit here a couple hours.

Keep us posted. When I saw this I was hoping for an epic story. There's still plenty of time for it to get wild

Doesn't matter if you end up killing a Jake I would do a full body mount on it. As hard as it is to kill one period adding a 5yr old into the mix, now that woke a trophy. I couldn't do it with my 5yr old.

Well Setterman, no epic story. The epic part of today was beginning a new phase of hunting life...father and son. He was so quiet, had a great attitude and wasn't disappointed that we didn't kill a tom.

The day was pretty simple, we got to the property at around 7:30am which is prime bird movement time on the property. I was worried about that because I knew we would be potentially crossing paths with birds going to the blind. Fortunately we were able to navigate around a couple strutters without being detected. I would have gone a little later but it seems the birds move off the property around midday and make their way back around time to roost. I knew our best chance of seeing birds was to go as soon as he woke up.

We had a great experience today...the first of many, for years to come Lord willing.

Sure was hoping you guys killed one but like you said, "the first of many". That's cool.

Hey, nothing wrong with that story. Luckily for you and him it didn't have to be a wild turkey kill event, just being out there was good enough it sounds like
