Can someone please tell me about HuntStand and the advantages/disadvantages over Onx? Also how much does it cost? I recently joined a hunting lease and would like to use if for scouting/hunting? I see they have a regular membership and Pro membership. What is the difference?

I've had the regular HuntStand Lite for 5 or 6 years and it does about anything I need it to do. It's free. I'm sure the Pro has more options such as unlimited property owner data but I don't need that. It shows you where you are even without cell signal and allows you to mark stands, etc. What more do you need? It has weather, wind direction, solunar tables, sunset/ sunrise, distance to/from locations, measures acreage, syncs with other devices, etc, etc. Did I mention that it is free?

Don't know a thing about Onyx.

Huntstand is what I've used for years😃

I suspect all are pretty competitive overall, but maybe in some different ways, those ways constantly changing.

I do know a couple years ago, after I had been using OnX previously, suddenly BaseMap had better imagery, and was about 1/2 the price for nationwide coverage as OnX. That's when I switched over to BaseMap. Have never tried HuntStand.

I only use OnX for locating property lines and corners, and for that, it's shockingly good.

Onx is also good for finding the name and address of the landowner. Unfortunately no phone number though. You'll have to find out that another way.

OnX was the first to come out with the detailed property boundary data, so I've stuck with that.

True.
But the others also do this as well.

I had OnX.
Wasn't unhappy with it,
but last time it came up for annual renewal, BaseMap offered same features, plus better imagery, for a significantly lower cost.

Since then, I believe OnX has enhanced their imagery as well, may have reduced their subscription fees, and there now may be little overall difference between any of them.

I have Hunstand Pro. Lots of nice features. I think what sets them apart, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is the imagery on HuntStand can be viewed as "leaf off" which makes it easier to see different habitat types . As I understand, OnX imagery cannot be viewed like that? This has been a small complaint. Now, this might have been corrected. I'm sure someone can here can verify

No choice on OnX. You have the imagery they provide, which is usually summer, leaf-on.

I have used OnX for about 5 years, I like it a lot for user interface. Seems to work easier than most others and the app and website interchange the info you put in it. when I bought my place, I got the GPS cords for the boundary from the survey. I put them into OnX, it allowed me to put a mark at the exact spot of it. With in 15 mins, i had my property laid out with a bright yellow boundary. Downsides, they are slow to update the property owners. I bought my house in 2017, it was 2020 before it showed my name on it. The update that put leaves on the trees, really killed the high recommendation on the program for me.

I bought HuntStand pro last year when it had a special. I tried the GPS cords, it was very challenging at times. I finally got it but just wasn't happy with it. A lot of the other features don't impress me with with. I do like the monthly view to see how things have changed month to month, but it's low def so it's not great image.

I've also got Spartan Forge. It's still a work in progress but I'm really liking the maps/images that come with it.

If I could combine the 3, I would be happy with a perfect program...lol

Started using Huntstand when it first came out and used for several years. Made the move to onX for hunting out west and like it as well. No major complaints with either.

Which is better for you depends on which features you most value?

Competition should cause all branding to become more feature rich
and keep prices competitive between the branding choices.
Just part of what is so great about the free enterprise system.

I've had them all. I had one app and it sold out to huntstand, can't remember the name of it. I thought huntstand was terrible so went to onx. Then came along basemaps for half the price and I like it better than any of them. I guess my only drawback is it can take a while to change ownerships on a property. Other than that I like it for marking stands and checking property lines.
