I'm brand new to this area and to this state. From New jersey, where turkey hunting seems to be so different than what ive read. Last Sunday i went out bought all the things necessary to hunt LBL 17 april to 30 april. I went out the Monday after the youth hunt was over. To try to and find a spot with out messing up anyone else locations seeing as i'm setting up so late. I ended up finding a field id say a mile off the road. didn't see evidence of anyone else hunting there and found a decent amount of tracks ended up making a blind in the corner of the field. Any info, tips, or tricks you'se could give me about hunting in LBL. how the birds are ect. This will be my first real time doing everything on my own (finding a spot, making a blind, calling. ect) ive always gone out with an experienced friend on private land for the past 6 or so years. Any help is appreciated!

Only one tip... find a buddy that knows how to turkey hunt. The learning curve is steep and a buddy with experience will save you years of sorrow.

I mean ive been turkey hunting for years now. definitely feel like ill be fine. as far as what i know. Im more just looking for some better info on the LBL area. As far as a buddy in this area that turkey hunts im SOL.

Nota, I'd suggest you try to find some backup areas. You'll find there area few secret areas in LBL. My experience with LBL birds is they seem much more at ease in the woods.
Question for ya, noticed your showing Fort Campbell as your location. If you aren't hunting the base you missing out on some excellent hunting once you understand procedure.

Issue is you have to have your hunters saftey course card which i did like 11 years ago and lost it. In nj you cant get your licence without completing the course so i never really thought much of it. But i guess ill just cross my fingers with this one spot for this season and do it the right way next season with some better understanding of lbl.

You can order a replacement card for like $7

Are you going to hunt in KY or TN???

You do know that LBL is in both states and you have to be properly licensed to hunt in the state you are hunting.
There is no reciprocal agreement between the states.
