Looking into the seasons on each WMA and it appears that every WMA or public land in west tn isn't open until two weeks into the season and closes a week earlier before state wide. So guys like me that hunt 100% public have to wait until April 16th to turkey hunt. I understand TWRAs thought process of limiting public access on every dang piece of public land.

"Bottomland" WMA's in West TN, and someone correct me if this is wrong, but I believe had their seasons adjusted like that due to the flooding of the past several years having negatively affected the turkey populations because of all the failed nests. My guess is they are trying to make sure a good number of hens get bred prior to letting us hunt in hopes it will increase the nesting success and in turn replenish some of the birds. I hunt some of them too so I understand your frustration Whitetail but can also understand TWRA wanting to help the birds and hunters going forward. If nothing has changed from when the guide was printed a good number of those same WMA's included in this "Bottomland" group which usually have quota hunts are open same as statewide after that April 16th date so there might actually be better opportunity to harvest birds if you're willing to try some new places.

Yea I'll have to find a spot just a little further out

If you're going to drive East, I'd suggest going all the way to Middle TN or even further and going to East TN.
Go east if you can. I live in middle. Our two main go to's are yanahli and priest. I've talked to many people who quit going to these spots because of so many hunters.

It's looking like LBL, once i look into the regs of the property, and Natchez Trace.....all others are just to far for me. LBL is going to be right around 110 miles and 2 hrs, thats far enough for me.

LBL doesn't open on the 2nd. It doesn't open until after the 2 draw hunts.

Put in for the quota hunt, $5
Get you in a tad sooner if drawn.
