I've got a stand that can be productive at first light, but its a transition area and after sunrise, thats it for that spot in the morning. I've sat multiple times at all points during the season in that stand and its dead after the initial movement.

Anyone hunt two stands on a morning hunt? Yesterday I sat on that transition stand and then moved to another stand up the ridge. I might do that strategy again Friday morning.

cant say that i have but if you feel confident in that strategy its worth a shot. you probably do this but i would really take my time moving from one to the other, like hunting your way out of one stand and into the other.

I have moved from my back field into the woods in the mornings on several occasions. Have also moved from the woods to the field. Just depends on where I think the activity is, and often it is not a plan, just instinctive move based on what I am or am not seeing and on when my cam data tells me the deer are where.

This has happened to me only field to woods. I just feel if they don't come out into a field by 9:00 they are not coming. I mainly hunt fields in the evening when I had fields to hunt.

Yes in a situation just like you described.

Two of my best three bucks came after a move although it wasn't quite like the scenario you are talking about. Both were killed between 12pm and 1pm, both on public land and both the first time hunting the area.

I have a rule that I follow-
Do all I can to never have a bad sit! I don't want to end the day thinking I wasted my time (although just being out there is not actually a waste of time). Some of my moves have just been a couple hundred yards, some have been farther than that and some of been just moving around the tree to look a different way lol.

I have spooked deer moving, I have scene deer after moving and I have killed deer after moving.

I say go for it! It sounds to me like you have done your homework and have a pretty good idea of the movement in your area.

Now the kicker , I've also scene and killed deer after staying put lol.

I moved once on the lease in Lincoln . I was sitting in a stand watching fields on a big top bored as I said by 9:00 most times not coming but looked in behind me down in the bottom or a grown up field . I seen a doe and a decent buck following her at about 400 yds . Tried my best to get on him but then wind had picked up and I didn't feel good about shooting...just couldn't get a steady rest . Well they went out of sight so I thought I'll put on a stalk because I felt he had that doe locked down . Picked my way though brairs and grown up weeds trying to be quite..the wind was good so that didn't concern me . Got to about 100 yds where I had seen them last and the doe busts out starts running then the buck but couldn't get off a shot . The doe crosses a field with elevation that I could see her good ...thinking the bucks going to follow and sure enough he does ..running at about 175 yards so I get on him and shoot . Thought I hit him but racked another shell . Seen him about to cross a fence so I shot again and he went down. After gutting him I found two holes about an inch apart...he was actually running dead . Decent 10 point but that move was successful.
