But I loooove homemade peach ice cream. My grandfather started me on this using an old hand crank maker. Fun to remember for nostalgia purposes but the thing sucked. I like seeing it churn up from the comfort of a highly air conditioned room.

yeah a recipe would be nice. i have one of those and couldnt find a recipe worth a crap and the wife says she is going to toss it if i dont make any soon.

Nothing beats homemade ice cream. I have a couple of electrics and hand cranks. Mine are all White Mountain so everything is metal. They'll last a lifetime. I don't really like the fruit mixed in mine while it's making but rather topped with the fruit instead. Peaches are great but I like fresh strawberries best.

I don't really have a written recipe. It's a basic custard one of the grandparents taught me. Whole milk, heavy cream, a scraped vanilla bean, sugar, and 6 or so egg yolks whisked together then heated slowly until it thickens. Strain it, fish out the vanilla bean, and chill overnight. You can use whatever fruit. I usually sprinkle it with sugar and pour the juice that is extracted into the custard before churning. Fruit goes in during the last minute or two. I usually mash the fruit because big pieces freeze too hard. I've done strawberry, peach, blueberry, wild blackberry, cherry, and raspberry with fine results. Muscadine was okay but not as good as I had hoped.

Nectarines and Peaches seem to be available at a decent price. I ate 5 nectarines yesterday and honest, they were all really sweet and near perfect.

I may have to get an ice cream maker, this thread is killing me.

chilling the custard overnight is what i wasnt doing but i was putting the tub in the freezer to chill per the machine instructions. gonna try it.

would you say equal parts milk and heavy creme, or more milk and less creme? the problem i have when i try to make it is undoubtedly too much heavy creme as it leaves a fatty coating on my lips, lol.

I have ZERO idea how to make ice cream but if you drive down my road playing annoying kids music on max and your selling that peach stuff, I'll chase you down too lol. Looks and sounds delicious.

I try to keep it somewhat even. Some people use Half & Half from the store. Too little cream and it gets icy and the texture is weird. I know some people who cut the cream with buttermilk. Not as dense but it has enough fat to keep the ice crystals from going wild.
