i mean good gosh i just cant buy a gobble once they hit the ground. Had 4 gobbling yesterday on a ridge and they flew down to the field so this morning i go and get in the field and they fly up to where i was yesterday. I mean that is how the season has been to this point!!

going to a new spot with a buddy in the morning so hoping my luck will change.

oh and for the love of god i am tired of seeing jakes!

ren i am with you, turkeys in my parts arent roosting in the same spots. they are here one day and there the next. by the time i get over there they have shut up. very frustrating.

Sure ya can my mil bought a slate, a royal and a burban last week! Lol
Seriously I know what you mean I been having the same luck and I would kill a jake If given the chance

I didn't shoot a jake yesterday morning, mainly because my first hunt of the year was less than an hour old, and I wanted to see what else was around without having to end the hunt. Did not see any more turkeys but had conversations with a few, which is the survey that I was trying to take. Now that I know that some gobblers are on the place, any jakes that show up may not be as lucky as the one yesterday, particularly if the season wears on turkeyless!

Yeah I don't mind having James but seems in one spot I hunt there is 20 of them and the come in running. Had one sorting this morning for 10mins before I could actually see him.....I went from heart racing to pissed lol.

Just have not been able to get them to do the same thing 2 days in a row.

Ren keep that head up, the season is only 4 days old, tons more days out there to kill a pile.

Jakes are a great sign, and there are tons here as well. With lots of jakes comes lots of young hens as well, which means a longer breeding cycle, which can make it tougher.

The shifting of roosting locations is common with early season birds. The hens have not begun to "scout" nesting areas, and aren't leaving the gobblers at all if that is the case. Unfortunately this could mean a while before it gets easier.

Wow auto correct really turned my last post to borderline unreadable lol.

I'll be back at it in the morning without quest. I just need some hens to starting finding there way alone soon!
