Got up this morning at 530 and, like usual, go out to pee off the porch. As I am just finishing, a turkey gobbles no more than 100 yards away ON MY PROPERTY! They don't often roost on my place, although they will move through occasionally, but spend most of the day on a neighboring pasture that I don't have permission to hunt on. Anyway, this bird is about half way up the ridge right above my chicken coop. Last week I remember spooking a hen off the roost about 100 yards from where this guy is. I think to myself "I know exactly where this bird is going to be on his way to the neighbors pasture". Walk into the barn and throw on some camo and grab a gun and head up the ridge trail to kill him. I get to my spot and he gobbles again maybe 75 yards away! I'm thinking "he he he, I got you!". He gobbles 6-8 more times, and I let out just a couple clucks. In 10 seconds he flies down...down over my house, my front yard, driveway, creek on the property line and into the neighbors pasture :bash:

Yeah, they have a way of hurting our feelings.

It's like when a hot bird gobbles at everything, EXCEPT when you make a call!

No doubt...he hammered in that pasture from the second he hit the ground. I even stopped to look at him as I drove by on the way to work and he dropped out of strut, looked at me and gobbled.

I'm going to shoot him in the lips on the limb if he's in the same spot in the morning.

If you can I'd try to hunt your yard in the evening and see if he sneaks back onto your place to roost
