I wish they wouldn't gobble at all, rather than throwing out a courtesy gobble every 30 minutes or so just to keep you engaged.

I realize they are most likely floating behind their latest hen-of-the-day and following her wherever she goes, but don't try to invite the new girl to the party.

If I didn't have to get to work today, I'd have stuck with him. Gonna try to get tight with him tomorrow morning. Two can play this game.

They are a pain. Last week I got a hen to answer me on up in the morning, eventually a bird gobbled with her at her, but no matter what would not answer me. I stuck with them for 2 hours and just about the time I'd get up to leave he'd fire off drawing me back in. Needless to say he's still alive, but in a few weeeks when I find him henless I'll have the last laugh

Yep. Sometimes it makes you wonder if they aren't doing it just to mess with us. "Hey watch what I can make him do!"

We're like a puppet on a string.

I like them on quiet days but mostly hate them too. If I can't find a tom to save my life then ANY gobble is a good gobble. But when the bird won't work it sure is a pain.

You guys must hunt close to home. When I go to my place it's for 2 days minimum. I'll take a bird that courtesy gobbles every 30 minutes every day. If he'll do that, eventually I'll kill him. But, when I hunted close to home and I was trying to get home and they did it I hated them too.

I don't mind them... I actually feel like I am turkey hunting when a bird gives me the occasional courtesy gobble instead of just being on a glorified hiking trip. Sure, they can be frustrating, but at least they are letting you know they are in the area. I'll usually only give them an hour before I'm either moving on or moving in on them.

I tend to think of a bird that courtesy gobbles as a backup bird, I accept it for what it is, and he has no intention of coming to the gun...yet. It's good to have one to fall back on if nothing else is going on that particular day, but these turkeys are often killable at the right time in the season.

My thoughts exactly.

Wasted another 2 1/2 hrs this morning on one. I need to find one that isn't tagging behind a hen!
