Doesn't every good hunting story start with....So I take a day off work Fri to get last shot before youth (or early poacher hunt where I am..lol). I get to bed at 9p. Fall asleep hard until 11:45p when my dog wants out of the room and is whining. I get up, let her out and do the mental time check. So, still 4 hrs till I have to get up, cool. Could not get back to sleep. At 3a, I just turn off the alarm and decide I will just get up when I get up. Up at 6a, shower, coffee load up. Now I try to be scent free as possible. I use scent free soap, laundry detergent etc. So last night I let my outer clothes hang in the air on the side of the house (important to note, I don't pass on that side of the house when going to truck). I get in truck and head to the lease (hour and fifteen mins away). Missed the daylight hunting but I get there about 8a so still can still slowly wander and get in a tree. I get out, gather my gear and I realize I have no outer clothes. Remember the side of the house? I have on baselayer shirt and leggings with shorts over them. That's it. Any other time I have 3 different outher changes of clothing JIC. The delimma, drive back home and get clothes and chalk up the morning, hunt in what I'm wearing or option 3, drive 10 mins to walmart where there is plenty of cheap chinese $h|t to buy. Option 3 it is. So i get the pants and shirt and drive back to the lease. Theres 25 mins wasted but better than 3 hrs. So I roll them in leaves and dirt and then spray down with DDW to get as much walmart off them as possible. Not great but I think I can work the wind and get by. I slowly walk in. Jump a small deer on way. I get to my location and find a tree. I get the sticks hung, platform hung and I'm in my saddle by 9:30a with the wind doing what the weather had said it would. I'm set up for a left side shot on this east wind. Well, 15 mins and the east wind which is supposed to be all day turns SE, then SW. Well crap. So the change goes on for a couple hrs. I didn't want to move because I knew if I did, wind would change again and with the clothes not scent free I didnt want to spread that around. I sit it until dark. One spike came through all day. But still in a tree and not in front of the computer.
