I thought with the weather moving out this morning it would be good but I didn't hear a single gobble. Hopefully tomorrow morning will be better.

I chased a bird with my nephew all morning yesterday and it was cold when we got there. He was in a field on the next property, but if we could have gotten him to come into the woods, they own that. He was henned up and wouldn't budge, but he gobbled probably 100x and strutted and put on a show. He was bummed we couldn't get him, but he said, he enjoyed watching him strut and gobble. I know I did.

I told him keep after him. eventually those hens will leave him and if he sticks around... he'll have a chance.

we heard 2 other birds gobble that morning on the limb, but they were way off.

Almost as many silent mornings as gobbling for me this season. Tomorrow is the day I have circled to hopefully have them fired up.

Things slowed down a lot for me starting with that big cold front last week. It has been tough since. Hoping things improve over the next few days.

They sounded on the limb at least this morning... Have not heard a bird gobble after 9:30am all season...

Two edged sword. Gets harder because there are less birds and they are more pressured. Gets easier because hens are starting to set, googan hunters begin to quit, and full foliage makes it easier to move and set up on them.

I myself like the last week of April and first week of May the best.

I agree, it can get tougher but, sometimes you will find a few birds that are lonely and fired up.
