For a couple of days, then I will miss it again and eagerly await next year.

We are still having plenty of action, as we always do at the end of the season.

Wed. was in middle TN, and only had one bird hammering in the tree. However, he had three hens and two other longbeards in his posse. The other two never gobbled, and he never made a peep once he flew into the field. He did breed one of the hens.

They skirted the far end of the field for the first hour, then they made their way back our way .. slowly. Finally the hens passed by us, and it wasn't long until one of the gobblers was in tow. The old fella missed! I'm resolved that it just isn't going to happen with him, but that won't keep me from trying tomorrow!

Thursday and today a young man and I were on the hottest bird all year. BUT, he has drawn a line in the sand, which just so happens to be on the other side of a tangled mess of growth and a pretty good creek. He won't cross it, and I can't get to him. I'm at the edge of a small field and there have been birds in it for years, and I just happen to get on one that is too stupid to figure out how to get through the mess :) !

Oh well, one more hunt in middle TN tomorrow and then maybe one more shot at this joker!

Anyone else still playing?

I always play, and have never gotten tired of it, although this year has been frustrating because of ghost turkeys.

I will say this, I will be glad when this decline is over

I am getting up at 3am to drive down to Cherokee WMA and hike back in to where I was last week.....hoping to hear a few more gobbles.....

I think I've been in the woods 6 times and that includes once on the juvi hunt. Been fortunate to kill two and hopefully the rain will hold off so I can get my son on one this weekend. He has a baseball game tomorrow and we plan to go after that and then again on Sunday after church if needed. Trying to get his second bird ever.

I'm going to try to get up n go tomm and sun but I have said that all season and only went a few times. I don't know if I'm just not that into it this year or I'm wore down from work lol, I already had my 40 hours before I clocked in this morning and still got 11.5 more hours today. I have killed 2 in the 5 times I did hunt so I can't complain. Good luck to everyone these last few days of season and be safe. (By the way I work at coke so everyone start drinking Pepsi to make it a lil easier on me lol)

I'm always sad when it ends. This year has been frustrating to say the least in TN. I'm typing from the woods where I sit in complete silence. Meanwhile 400 yards away on the other mountain side they are blowing the woods down, problem is that's Ky. In years past both sides were loaded but slowly every year the tn side has fewer and fewer birds until this year when there are none.

I'm holding a tag, but conflicted about filling it with our numbers so low

Even though it's been tough I'm still sad
