Grizzly Johnson said:You boys are going to have to step up to the new technology.... I'm handloading 5" 4.5oz #12 TSS in my 8ga. I can get an average of 500 hits in a 10" circle @ 100 yards.... counting the 20" ring I have 800+. Woorks good in heavy brush as well.... see a turkey in the bush, just blast him.... and you have a nice cleared path to fetch him. Roosted turkey... no problem.... blast him and the limb out of the tree that way he doestn't get hung up on the way down.... Hen problems... no worries, fall turkey season is golden... this baby can take out a dozen hens with one thunderous blast.
I call my new gun/loads "The Sandman" because them turkeys go right to sleep.... when it goes boom!!

elkman said:Sounds like I will just make me a 6 gauge muzzleloading shotgun. The I can put #13 TSS and the new sleeping dust in my barrel. That way as long as I shoot downwind I will get them even out to 500 yards.

no, with the spotlight I am too busy looking for green eyes bobbing up and down in cut corn fields. Roll-down windows in the truck are great rests for the rifle for those long shotsGrizzly Johnson said:catman529 said:I prefer to shoot them off the roost at night with a night vision scope on a .243 from 350 yards across a power line cut.
Just use a spotlight, look for the glowing blue eyes to aim at.
