If by some reason you had to choose 1 or the other which would you go with....

I LOVE deer hunting and have been doing it much longer but if i had to choose one it would be Turkey hunting without a doubt. Man i have just been hooked since the first time i went! i just cant get enough of it for some reason, maybe its the weather or the fact i usually hunt with some good friends...or a combination of many things but man i love it.

I have yet to kill a turkey and have only been hunting them off and on for a couple years. I have been hunting deer for 25 years now and I still love to go.So, I would have to choose deer hunting for myself.

turkeys, I love to manage deer herds, but if I only could hunt one, no question it would be turkeys. I think it is the interaction with prey, that gets me with the turkeys. And it usually isn't cold.

Deer for me. Nothing tears me up inside like a big buck. There isn't a lot of difference between adult gobblers...they are all similar...9 to 11 inch beards...1 to 1.5 inch spurs....20 to 25 pounds...Anything outside those perameters is an exceptionally rare bird.

Bucks on the other hand vary tremendously...no two are alike. I love that about deer.

very nice way to put it. I agree as well (minus the pick obviously)

TO ME turkey is more of a "hunt" then deer. Dont get me wrong alot goes into getting that big buck but alot of luck is also needed. there is just nothing like calling in the old tom and having him drumming right in front of you.

I honestly get more nervous when the big boy shows up but it is so few and far between.

and just to be clear i am not trying to make this a WHICH IS BETTER argument because i honestly LOVE both of them.

Well if I had to choose from those two only it would have to be DEER then Turkey. I grown up a deer hunter and just recently started hunting turkeys the last 5 years. But if I would have my overall pick I would rather duck hunt than anything in the world.

Thank goodness I don't have to make that choice, but if I had to make it I would probably pick turkey. There is just something about the spring and hearing those birds gobble, I get a fire in my belly that I just don't get any other time.

Are we talking about hunting deer in Tennessee?

I would choose turkey hunting over hunting deer in Tennessee.

But hunting deer in the Midwest might make the decision a little bit tougher for me.

That is an easy question for me. Deer. I save a big part of my vacation days for the Fall. I also have to make a choice every spring - Turkey or Fishing. I choose to focus on fishing but will turkey hunt and carry a gun in the boat to give chase on Corp land if I am not fishing a tournament. I like turkey hunting but deer hunting and fishing come first for me. If prime turkey season fell at a different time of year, I would probably be as serious about it as I am deer hunting and fishing.
