Thursday I busted up a rather large flock about 30 minutes before sunset. I had a feeling that they were going to fly down to the neighboring property, so I got permission. I arrived early and set up three decoys on the edge of the field. I knew where the Alpha hen was and my goal was to call her in and bring the rest in tow. When the sun started to rise I hit my slate and the woods erupted. I begged my kids to come with me....1st so they could experience it, secondly so they could video tape it....I put my phone on audio and taped....didn't do it justice, I heard sounds I had never heard before.....birds trying to gobble and their notes would crack....I had birds all over, in front of me, behind me, to my left, to my right....several flocks were in the area. The first hen flew down just past my decoys, but slowly made her way back....then the alpha flew down, then several more, I was trying to get more than one with my shot....but decided not to force it and shot the alpha. I gave it a few minutes and started calling again, I did a fly down and 30 seconds later a hen dropped into my decoys....so I bagged her.....5 minutes later I called in a juvenile and finished my day.....I estimate that there were 100 birds when all the flocks were together.....learned an immense amount listening to them....wished my kids had come with me to hear it.

3 tags left....might go out tomorrow after church for an hour before going deer hunting in the evening

That sounds like a much more interesting hunt than mine, I love hearing em talking. Congrats
