Walked into some today 4166 version ,was wondering if any body else had ran across any yet.?

BTW new site looks good.

The IMR4166 is supposed to fry breakfast, vacuum the house, lower you electric bill, and make your Mother In Law leave for Alaska.

Really.

I have not seen results I can trust.

I hear the price is steep-31 bucks a pound online before Hazmat.

Some reloading examples:

223 rifle
60 gr Vmax (covers 50 to 90 grains!)
24.2 gr IMR4166 compressed
FPS 2985S

25/06 rifle
100 grain Partition
50 grains IMR4166
FPS: 3616

30/06 rifle
150 grain Ballistic Tip
50.9 grains IMR4166
2,935 FPS (takes 59 gr IMR4350 to get this number)

300 WSM Rifle
165 gr Partition
57.6 gr IMR4166
3,053 FPS

See what I mean-pretty wide variety.

Wait-
I just read Mr. Big's 6.5 thread. he is shooting IMR4166 in that custom rig of his and getting a Standard Deviation of 10. Clouds can give you a SD of 10. That means repeatability and is quite impressive.

Your right on price 34.95 local shop. Until I saw it on the shelf I hadn't heard a thing about it, There website says its new for 2015 so hopefully the price will drop. I got it for the 8x57 loads they have on line look good but we will see.
Thanks btw

it is not as fine and does not meter as well as they claim,,I was expecting H322 type flow and it is more like Varget and in the 6.5 shoots like a cross of varget and RL15,,one funny thing about it the bullet holes on target will have a blue ring around them and the powder fouling comes out blue instead of black,,I am going to do some more testing and push it harder and plan on trying it in the 6 BRDX also,,

Mr. Big--

The FPS you are seeing with IMR4166---is that faster than whatever you were using? Are you burning less and getting the same FPS or better?

I only chronied one load and was with 140 gr Hybirds,,from that one load it is very similar to Varget and RL15 but may or may not be more temp stable and does burn clean,,but I did not see any big FPS gains in that one load,,it did get the same FPS with 36 grs as H4350 at 40.5 grs but Varget and RL15 will do the same,,

if it is more stable in big temp swings it would be worth using to me,,
