I went to specifically target big (tarp) shellcracker yesterday.
Spent about an hour or more fishing tightline with worms on an old road bed but never caught the first one.
Found one spot right on a drop off that was LOADED with fish. Had to get my marker and by the time I got everything ready I lost the spot and spent 30 minutes looking for it again and never did find it. :(

Found another good looking spot, threw my marker then turned the boat to get the wind at my back and dropped my anchors. Then I realized my marker didn't unwind and was steadily moving. :bash:

Anyway, moved on to the lillypads.
Tied my hook about 8" up the line and put a weight on the very end to bump the bottom with.
Drop it in very small holes in the pads and let the weight hit bottom then just move up and down where just the worm was moving.
If I didn't get a hit within 3 jigs I would just move it.

Caught several nice bream and a few shellcracker but none that were what I was really looking for.

Thinking of converting one of my crappie poles (12') to let me cover more area per stop next time.
Anyway, it was a fun way to catch a few.
