I can't wait for the rebuttal :tu: !

On the offensive line, the plan for some months had been to take several more developmental guys along with Ryan Johnson. Marcus Tatum was an early offer and they beat out Florida straight up for him.

And that's something that's a little underrated here. You're talking about a kid an hour from Gainesville that had only been to Knoxville twice before he committed compared to numerous times for the Gators.

And if anyone tells you he wasn't a priority for Florida that's not true. Four Florida assistant coaches showed up at his school the week after he committed to Tennessee to try and convince him to visit. He had a teammate that was committed to the Gators as well.

Credit goes to the trio of Larry Scott, Don Mahoney and Gillespie for keeping him settled and in the fold. Throw in Jashon Robertson as well. The two bonded over the last few months and Tatum was back up in Knoxville last weekend for an unofficial and spent most of his time with Robertson.

Now, he has the longest ways to go of any of the three offensive linemen signed but he's bought in to getting bigger in the weight room recently and has already added some good weight.

Yeah I've seen a few articles saying this Kid could be Very good, But he needs to add weight.

That is what a Redshirt is for :tu: he should turn into an alright player.

Maybe he should have went to Florida, and asked that one QB what was his name? O YEAH, Will grier, how to add weight. Heard that Guy added like 20 pounds of Muscle in a few mouths!!...... O wait, never mind I forget...... :poke:

Yep... You win some and lose some. Gators got beat out on a 260 lb. 3 star OL player???

Wonder if anyone wrote a story on UT needing DEs and the Gators beating UT out for Jordan Smith a 4 star DE........ Pretty good trade off
:)

"4-Star DE Jordan Smith Commits To Florida Over Tennessee

Florida head coach Jim McElwain and staff have done a terrific job on the recruiting trail, and the rich got a little richer Sunday morning.

2016 defensive end Jordan Smith, out of Lithonia (GA), announced his pledge to the Gators via Twitter following his official visit to Gainesville. The 6-foot-5-and-a-half, 220-pounder is rated as a four-star by 247 Sports and was crystal-balled to Tennessee at 67%, but UF must have made an impression. "

Think Tennessee added a Pretty good DE #1 JUCO with 3 years left.

But your right win some lose some. Getting beat out One 1 DE or 1 OL does not make or brake a team.

Did he live in Oak Ridge?

It wasn't about beating the gators for a recruit. It wasn't about beating the gators for an in state recruit.

It was about beating the gators for a recruit they wanted who lived in Gainesville.

Take for us vol fans, when your coach can't law the deal on a kid who lives in the same town, you've got problems. If we don't sign Tee Higgins next year and he goes to one of our biggest rivals, it would be bad, no?

Have they moved Mainland High School since I have lived in FL. When I played them in high school, Mainland was located in Daytona Beach, FL. Gainesville is about 2 hours away. Of course the article is incorrect because no one can drive from Daytona Beach to Gainesville and make it in a hour.... :pop:
