Something I saw on volnation and looked up to be matter of fact.
The vols are 17-4 over their last 21 football games. I'd bet there aren't many teams at all that can say they have a record like that.
Now a cpl of the losses are ugly. Vandy,& sc. I'm sure one of the losses came to Bama. So either the vols haven't beaten many good teams or they aren't credit where it is due.

Yea that looks like a good stat until you see the losses..... if you look at butches SEC record, it is sickening to say the least. We are a mediocre team and always will be with him in charge.

They have beat some good teams.

Florida, Georgia x2

Virginia tech was a good team last season (10-4) they 2-0 this year with a win over a ranked team already.

Georgia tech,a real solid team. They beat 3! Sec east teams last year, and almost made UT a 4th in two seasons.

Destroyed a 13th rank Northwestern team in a bowl.

I'm sure they another one.....

Some other interesting facts

Vols 3-0 in bowls under CBJ & they have not even been close.

His had his team finish in the top 25 last two years something that has not been done at Ut in a long time.

Has 3 straight winning seasons as UT I think they said that had not been done in 10 years?

List goes on.

Recruiting

Stopping the 11 year UF streak

Think someone said it's the first time the vols have started 2-0 or better back to back years in a good while.

People that want him gone need to stop, & think. he is doing things coaches at UT have not done in a decade! So what makes you think the next guy is a lock to do so?

Or 100% undefeated for the 2017 season!

There's plenty of ways to spin it, there's also a ton of negative Nancy's on this site. I wonder if they even realize it? (Probably not)

That's the only stat that matters.

I'm sick of Jones PR machine always trying to spin. That stat was put out by a UT tweet.

What is a shame is that the Shoop hire, so far, has been a total flop. His defense has been worse than Sunseri, which I did not think possible. It just shows that Franklin must have been the real one in control of those defenses at Vandy and PS.

While we are discussing stats, here is one I found interesting.

32-21 Butch Jones (1st 53 games as UT HC)
3-0 in bowls

32-21 Dabo Swinney (1st 53 games as CU HC)
1-3 in bowls

Dabo has a championship. Just by that alone he is undisputably the better coach. Butchs mouth overloads his tail most of the time but he has without a doubt brought TN a long ways. It isnt far enough yet though and I dont know if he can bring it the rest of the way or not. But the problem is, realistically, who can TN get, right now, that would take them to the promised land they are trying to get to? Forget the Peytons and the Grudens. Aint happening. Name a realistic, home run hire coach that TN could hire. One without any baggage that could win championships. None that I can think of.

TNs problem, especially the fans, IMO, is that they, we, think that TN is and always has been a team that is, have been or should be in the hunt for National Championships year in and year out. They should be competing for conf. championships every year but National Championships are pretty hard to come by year in and year out. Truthfully, Alabama and Nick Saban is sucking the life out of SEC football and college football in general. It truly is Alabama and everybody else most years and has been. Coaching in the SEC has taken a hit because of Saban. Every school is trying to compete with Alabama and Saban and when they cant get it done within two years, they are fired for the next guy. That doesnt allow much continuity and teams to get built and establish themselves. One more thing is if there were somebody available to hire at TN that was a homerun, would they come here knowing that they would have to beat out Saban twice a year just to be in the playoff picture? Not many would be up to the challenge id guess.

^^^^^^ well said about Saban. He is light years ahead of others. He will lose a game occasionally but it's not likely to happen back to back game.

That is the issue that a lot of fans have concerning him. Stop the cliches and preemptive excuses and trying to show how smart he is. BTW, did anyone else hear that, when he was asked about calling the TO to ice the kickers in the GT game, he stated that he had done a 4 year analysis while at Cincy to prove whether it is effective or not  ? I wonder what type of analysis he has done that causes him to call timeouts that actually benefits the opposing team  ?

He has done an amazing job in flipping the roster and improving things. Many hoped that the new coaches he hired would help, but especially on the defensive side, it doesn't appear that way.

One other thing. The UT job would be a more attractive job now than it was when he took over, so Gruden can thank him for that :D !

I know your kidding but Gruden aint coming here to actually work 365 for his paycheck when he can sit back on the beach answering a phone selling Coronas. Not going to happen.

I agree. Butch needs to keep his mouth shut and coach. But then im sure some Vol fans would find something to complain about if he actually did that.

I'm like the guy in Dumb & Dumber (no comments needed :D ) when the girl tells him there's maybe a 1 in a million chance of their getting together, "So you're telling me there's a chance" ! :tu:
