..... or do some of you start thinking about turkeys once the leaves fall? I love bow and muzzleloader season, but having a hard time this year "getting" into gun hunting.

That's how I feel about bow season. I cringe at the thought of ML season creeping up on me, and by the time gun season opens I'm ready for next bow season to get here. I enjoy turkey hunting and am always quite successful, but I don't love it like I do bow hunting.

I think about turkeys always. I enjoy deer hunting and running squirrel dogs, but if you took turkey hunting away I might as well give it all up.

I also hunt turkeys in the fall.

I like deer hunting but gobblers stay on my mind year round! Yep , I am already to change gears!

Watched 26 hens, jennies, and Jake's this am in central MS while deer hunting. All I could think about was getting an invite back during Turkey season.

I'd give up deer hunting in a heartbeat if I had to pick between deer and turkey.

Mega....glad we don't have to pick and choose, I love both. After January 11th I'll be 100% focused on the birds, I always find some new buck spots while out turkey scouting too, big plus.

I've completely quit deer hunting it just doesn't do anything for me anymore. I fish and think about turkeys 365. I do grouse hunt but that's training and scouting for turkeys in disguise

My deer hunting is turkey scouting in disguise lol

I also look for turkey sign while deer hunting, but I look for deer sign during squirrel season also lol. I enjoy both deer and turkey hunting the same. The thing I love about turkey hunting is the chasing that gobble nothing better. With deer it is kind of the exact opposite, I use the time in my climber to just sit back and enjoy nature and play that cat and mouse game.

Most of my deer scouting is in Turkey season, the only thing I do is check the white oaks I found in April in Oct to see if they are loaded. And I'm pretty good at identifying terrain travel routes, bedding areas, etc.

But I dont seem to be successful scouting for turkeys during deer season. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Areas that look perfect for turkeys may not have any next spring, and actual birds I see may not even be there come spring. I just have to check the actual areas in March and hope they are there. For me, finding a bird is the hardest part for sure.

Turkey plague has started for me with turkey showing up at my silage pile and eating away . I could kill one every day from my yard.
It is something to see last year when over 100 birds are scattered across my yard and fields back and side of my house. When they find a easy food source like a silage pile they spend the winter and spring until the food is gone.
