I am no greenhorn with a bow but I'm not to good at numbers with the physics of everything. Say u had a 70lb 29inch draw bow shooting a 430 grain arrowat about 315fps. Would there still be enough energy to shoot THROUGH a deer at 100yrds saying you hit it?

Yes....with ease actually. Here are my numbers as an example....430gr at 280fps and 74.9lbs/ke at the bow.

yds....k/e....fps

0....74.9....280
20....72.2....275
40....69.8....270.3
60....67.5....265.8
80....65.4....261.6
100....63.3....257.8
150....59.4....249.4
175....57.7....245.9

However....just because the equipment can, doesn't mean you can or even should try. To many factors can and will occur when shooting at a live animal and then throw environmental factor in on top of that and nothing good can come of it. Please, please do not take this the wrong way Poleaxe, as it is a blanket statement and not meant toward you directly. I don't mind posting stuff like this for educational reason and in a bit I will post the same except using a lighter arrow so you can see the true effects of a light vs. heavier arrow.

No I don't take it personal at all. Like I said I was never good at math so I didn't know. The only dumb question is the one not asked right? Thanks though this is interesting

Here is the same bow with the same diameter arrow that weights 353grains. Take notice of the amount of stored energy lost as the arrow travels down rangetotal speed loss of 34.1fps using 430grains vs. 61.7fps using 353grains, and likewise with k/e 17.2 loss of k/e vs 26.7 loss of k/e.

0....73.7....306.5
20....69.7....297.9
40....65.9....289.7
60....62.4....281.9
80....59.1....274.5
100....56.1....267.4
150....49.7....251.7
175....47....244.8

At that range the arrow flight has stabilized which maximizes penetration regardless of the loss of speed. I bet broadhead selection would play a factor in the penetration. A fixed blade would be more likely to blow completely through.
