Is there something going on with this bird????

I have been getting pictures of a bird that has took on the name "Grub". I'm not sure what, if anything, is going on with the bird but he is different and distinct from all the other birds. His head is always the same color and different from the rest, he appears to have bigger eyes, and it seems that he is missing most of the flap of skin under his head. Anyone know anything?
