Is this Season normal for you?

that's a hard YES or NO question.

i guess id have to say NO but prob not for the reasons you would think. Birds were still in the same places they always are this time of year on my spots but were a bit harder to call this year.

the green up made the pattern shift pretty fast though which made it a challenge to get on them consistently.

IMO there is no such thing as a "normal" season. each year has its challenges that were much different the year before.

What is normal? I should have asked this before answering.

I normally kill a bunch of birds, and did so this year. So thats a yes.

However, by now birds in my area usually are losing hens by now and hunting picks up, but this year they are severely henned up which is not normal for here.

Gobbling has been really good this year has been really good, but much of it has been pointless as the gobbler was unworkable.

Imo there is no normal in turkey hunting.

I understand the comment about "there is no normal in turkey hunting". With that said, my answer was based on what has been normal for me in my areas the past 15 years when compared to this year within reason (gobbling on limb, gobbling on ground, gobblers with/without hens at distinct times, responsive/non-responsive turkeys, disinterested gobblers at distinct times of the season, turkey sightings from roads, time of year I find hens sitting, time of the year I find dust bowls, etc). In the areas I have hunted, the answer has been glaringly obvious, he!! no. Furthermore, the 8-10 guys I normally associate and talk turkey hunting with all agree with me that one better not base anything on this season for the areas we frequent. :)
